Prestige Label Chooses Sterling Planet’s Renewable Energy Blend

North Carolina printer joins U.S. EPA Green Power Partnership

ATLANTA, October 13, 2008 – Sterling Planet announced today that it has entered an agreement to supply its Sterling Green America™ renewable energy to Prestige Label, a leader in flexographic and digital printing based in North Carolina and owned by Atlantic Corporation.

Prestige Label selected Sterling Planet, a recognized leader in providing renewable energy, energy-efficiency savings and carbon solutions on a global level, to provide Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to offset the printing company’s use of electricity from conventional fossil fuels.

This purchase of RECs, which represent the bundled environmental attributes of sustainable, domestically produced renewable energy, avoids the release of 171,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, the leading greenhouse gas. The environmental benefits are comparable to taking 14 cars off U.S. roads for a year, conserving 8,800 gallons of gasoline or not using 180 barrels of oil.

"With this REC purchase, Prestige Label is demonstrating yet again that we are committed to doing our part to conserve resources and limit the environmental impact of our everyday business operations,” said Cindy Nims, operations associate at Prestige Label. "We selected Sterling Planet as a business partner because we were attracted to the option of supporting a broad variety of renewable energy technologies that we can believe in and that carry Green-e Energy certification.”

By definition, a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) attests to the production of 1 megawatt-hour of environmentally preferable electricity from an eligible renewable energy resource, such as the sun, wind, water and bioenergy. Individuals and organizations nationwide buy RECs to reduce their environmental footprints. Purchasing RECs also supports domestic economies and increases the nation’s energy independence.

“We applaud Prestige Label for going the extra mile to benefit the environment and take our nation a step closer to energy independence,” said Mel Jones, president and chief executive officer of Sterling Planet. “We are proud to deliver to this client a diverse blend of REC types that is as affordable as it is credible and beneficial to both the environment and economy.”

The purchase qualifies Prestige Label for membership in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership, which recognizes organizations that voluntarily buy green power as a way to reduce environmental impacts.
