Sterling Planet supports Solar Light for Africa to aid them in changing the lives of Ugandans by installing solar powered LED lighting in their schools. As shown in the picture to the left, Sterling Planet intern Devon Boatright (Georgia Tech Chemical Engineering student and member of the Georgia Tech Solar Racing Team) stands in front of the newly installed lighting after the team has worked hard at this school all day. In only two weeks, solar energy was installed in four schools: Rays of Hope Primary School, Ggaba Mixed Secondary School, Lumuli Primary School, and Bubugo Primary School. Solar Light for Africa is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year thanks to the support of Sterling Planet. The goal of this mission is to educate the public on the advantages of renewable energy for the benefit of impoverished communities throughout the world. The installations completed on this recent trip and previous ones help those in need to have a better chance of escaping poverty and improves their health.
